Delille "Mambo D" Thomas, New York

Delille Thomas, also known as "Mambo D", is one of the world's most creative and dynamic Latin dance performers and instructors, internationally recognized for his pure style and virtuosity. His dance background includes extensive training in Jazz, Modern, Hustle and Latin (Afro, Mambo, Cha-Cha, Tango) and various Caribbean and street dances.
Since October 1992, Mr. Thomas has been teaching Mambo classes and conducting special workshops in New York City and various parts of United States and the world. His unique technique and style have earned him a reputation as a master teacher.
Since his first performance in June 1987 with Maestro Tito Puente at the Apollo Theater, Mr. Thomas has danced on various TV shows and many more outstanding pieces of cinematography. He has appeared in music, instructional and documentary videos advancing Mambo dancing to another level of sophistication.
Over the years he has worked with such Latin and Jazz music legends and luminaries as Wynton Marsalis, Lionel Hampton, Geoffrey Holder, Mario Bauza, Celia Cruz, El Gran Combo, Marc Anthony and Gilberto Santa Rosa performing at top rate venues and organizations, such as Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Apollo Theater and Madison Square Garden.
Delille‘s talent lend him to perform for President and Mrs. Bush at the ”All Star Fiesta Fund Raiser” in Washington, DC; United Nations 50th Anniversary, NY and the Summer Olympics in Atlanta, GA, just to name a few. He has toured in USA, Canada, Europe, Latin America and Asia inspiring many with his style and energy.
Mr. Thomas currently teaches at his new Mambo D Dance Center (2005) in NY. One of his goals is to continue to develop the Classic Mambo to a level where it will be viewed as more than just a social dance. Everyone who loves the intoxicating rhythms of Mambo is invited to attend his classes and partake in his quest to elevate the dance to a true art form.





The New York International Salsa Congress is New York City's largest and longest-running Latin dance and music event where the world comes to dance every Labor Day Weekend. This year is the 18th annual edition and will take place at the prestigious New York Marriott Marquis, in the heart of Times Square, footsteps from Broadway theaters, museums and other NYC attractions.
